IELTS 2010

Last Saturday I took IELTS at IDP Pondok Indah. I met many teenagers and people in their early twenties there. I felt very old among them. I thought I was the only person with grey hair. They seemed confident while doing their tests. Meanwhile I forgot many words. I am not sure if I can get good mark on overall band.
When I was doing Listening section, I could not concentrate. Actually, I had been told that if I could not concentrate in Listening test, then I would not be able to concentrate in Reading and Writing Section. It was true.
I was not used to write in order. I just wrote something at least I could fulfil minimum requirement of words in IELTS. When I was doing writing section, something was flashing into my head. I remembered my English teacher once said: "Keep it simple stupid (KISS)". My understanding was different from what he meant. I wrote too short.
I was scheduled to attend Speaking Section in the evening. I had to wait about 5 hours before my name was called to meet the interviewer.
What I can do now is just waiting for the result. Whatever the reasons, the result will show my capability at that time when the test was taken. I hope miracle happens, I get 8 for overall band.
I remember one of my superiors told me that he wrote books not because he wanted much money, but it was because he felt happy when he was doing it. He also said that most of the money went to the publisher not him. His point of view makes me realize that when I do something, I have to do it happily, otherwise I will be disappointed when the result is not like what I have expected to happen. It does not mean when doing it I am not serious and not preparing for the best.
If my IELTS result is not good enough, so I must be better next time.
What I have to do next is that I have to be more focus than before. I have to concentrate more when listening. Watching TV, films or news in english without reading the Indonesian texts (I forgot what it is called, subtitles maybe). By doing habitual action like that I am sure my listening ability will improve. I will read a lot. I will read books and newspaper daily, eventhough I do not understand the meaning of the words I read. I will also write more.

sibuk

It has been a long time I have not socialize with my neighbours. My tight schedule of work has prevented me doing such activity. I go to office early in the morning and I come home late at night. I have not had time to attend "pengajian warga", do chit chat as part of "silaturahim".
I also miss not only my quality time, but also my quantity time with my wife and sons.
I have been doing this for about five years. I do not know when this situation is over. I realize that there are many people out there who are busier than me. But it is me who feel this way, not them.
I really need good time management.

I have been wondering whether it is because my house which is far away from my office which is worsen the situation. But I do not think so, since it is the length of the working hours thatI have to be suited for.
I am glad that my family support me whatever I do. Thanks guys! i really appreciate it.
Love you all!

Kereta Ekonomi

It has been a long time I did not use economic train (?) for transportation to go to and from work. Two days ago I came out late from my office and went to tanah Abang Station at around 09.00 pm. I bought a ticket for Rp. 1,500. Then I went down the stairs. There was a train with yellow colour in 6th line. I decided to get on the train. Inside the train was hot. Passengers were so crowded. Moreover I stood next to train's machine. Many traders went back and forth.
I enjoyed having experience to meet people on the street like myself in the train and having conversation with, but I could not stand my sweat because there was no air conditioned and broken window that could not be opened. The fans were not running.

I bought a sticky picture of Spongebob Squarepants for my kid for Rp. 3,000. My son was very excited knowing that I brought the picture for him. He asked me to put it on his room door.
I have been wondering what if I am sweating when I go to work. Maybe I have to bring clothes, so I could change them.
Actually, train is a mode of transportation which is fast, affordable, and no traffic jam. I hope in the near future, Indonesia will have trains which can be used comfortably around Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, and Serpong.

luxurious prison?

Yesterday I read news in Jakarta Globe with its headline "Prison Pampers the Rich". It shows photos of neat and tidy rooms in prison.
